Support Services - Home Care

Home Attendant Image
The Foundation has effectively provided quality professional home care services for more than 30 years through contracts with the New York City Human Resources Administration and, more recently, with 22 managed long-term care organizations. Licensed by the New York State Department of Health, the Home Attendant Program employs over 1,100 certified home attendants, certified home health aides and housekeepers to care for Medicaid and dual eligible, Medicaid/Medicare, home care recipients throughout New York City's five boroughs. To meet the growing needs of this group, the program has expanded to serve more than 800 home care recipients annually.

Under the supervision of social work administrators, registered nurses and social workers visit seniors at home to assess their needs and supervise the home care workers employed by the Foundation. Foundation professionals train home care workers to perform daily tasks such as health-related personal care, housekeeping, shopping and cooking, as well as accompany seniors to medical appointments.

Among the many benefits of those who choose the Foundation's home care services are: recipients feel more "at home" with a staff that speaks their native language including English, Spanish, Chinese, Creole, Russian and Polish; replacement home attendants are normally available within two hours of receiving a call; phone calls from clients and home care workers are promptly answered by staff members Mondays through Fridays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.; live answering and follow-up service during non-working hours ensures 24-hour coverage, seven days per week, including weekends and holidays.
