New York Foundation for Senior Citizens is dedicated to helping New York's seniors enjoy healthier, safer, more productive and dignified lives in their own homes and communities and to help them avoid the need for premature institutionalization.
Access to Home Program
NYFSC’s Access to Home Program provides substantially disabled low/moderate income New York City residents with handicap-accessible home modifications. These home modifications include, but are not limited to: walk/roll-in bathtubs/shower, wheelchair ramps/lifts, kitchen retrofitting, shelf/light lowering and doorway expansion, stair glides, non- skid flooring and relocating a bathroom or bedroom to the first floor.
Access to Home Program’s services promote substantially disabled individuals’ health, increase their independence, prevent further decline, injury and need for institutionalization. Those eligible for the Access to Home Program’s services include:
Individuals with documented substantial limitation caused by a physical disability
Individuals with documented substantial limitation caused by a physical disability
Individuals with income at or below 80% of the area median income (in New York City: $86,960 for a one-person household)
Homeowners, rental property owners and tenants (with landlord’s approval)*
*Renters, condo/co-op owners will require additional documentation
Funding for the Access to Home Program is provided by New York State Division of Home and Community Renewal/Housing Trust Fund Corporation.
